Photo Inspiration

Happy Sunny Sunday,

It's a very warm 40 degrees here in Gippsland today, the perfect days to stay indoors with the air con going and get stuck into some crafting. Today I have made a card to enter into this weeks Just Add Ink challenge. This is the photo to inspire us and as soon as I saw the crisp colours and beautiful big flower, I knew exactly what I was going to create. The card I have made features a large yellow flower made with the full heart punch from Stampin' Up! Here is the card and a few instructions to help you re-create it for yourself.

The colours I have used are Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz with a touch of Basic Black stamping. I wanted to keep the colours crisp just like in the photo so opted to sponge all the cardstock and papers in the matching tones. The sentiment and butterfly are from the For Everything stamp set. I have simply stamped the sentiment, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line it up straight onto the card in Basic Black and then highlighted the Thanks with Marina Mist ink and a blender pen. The butterfly was stamped onto white card and blended with Daffodil Delight ink, I then cut it out and adhered it to the card.

Here's how you can re-create the flower.............

You will need 7 hearts to make your flower.

Using the Full Hearts Punch, punch out your hearts in your chosen colour, I have used Stampin' Up DSP in Daffodil Delight. Next fold all of your hearts down the center. To make the leaves you want to use the       1 3/4" circle punch. Take a piece of Old Olive cardstock about 4cm wide, the length will depend on how many leaves you want to add, fold in half length ways.  Slip the folded edge of the card into the punch about a quarter to a third of the way in. The size of your leaves will depend on how far into the punch you place your card.

You can vary the size of the leaves depending on how far into the punch you place the card.
Next ink all your pieces including the center fold of the leaves. I wanted to create a darker center to my flower so I have also sponged the tips of the hearts with Basic Black ink. Now you are ready to assemble.

Sponge the edges of all pieces including the center fold of the leaves.
Using Daffodil Delight cardstock or DSP, punch out a circle using the 1 3/4" punch. Cover the circle with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, leaving a border about 5mm in from the edge.  Allow this to sit for a minute so it starts to go a little tackier, this will be the base for your flower. Start adding the hearts to the circle base, heart tip first, mountain fold up.Work your way around until you have a nice even flower. Add a button or brad to the center to finish. Adhere flower to card front and place leaves where appropriate and there you have a beautiful flower card. I think this would look great in shadow box frames up on the wall too........ maybe a project for another day!

Happy Creating, Dani xoxo

JAI #52 entry

Hiya,
Well the girls over at Just Add Ink have chosen a sketch challenge for us this week. Because I don't have a very big supply of ribbon, I originally set out to use white ribbon and stamp on it with black stazon, thus setting my colour combo of black and white. Well the black and white stayed, however the ribbon idea changed! Non the less I am still happy with what I have come up with. I love, love , love the Upsy Daisy stamp and find that the delicate Every Moment stamp goes really well with it. A gentle shade of black added with the blender pen was all this flower needed to finish it off.

Supplies list;

Stamp sets; Every Moment (121508) Upsy Daisy (115898)

Cardstock: Basic Black and Whisper White

Inks; Black StazOn and Basic Black stamp spot

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget, Sale-A-Bration starts tomorrow. Who doesn't love FREE products!

Happy Creating, cheers Dani xoxox

Birthday Bakery

Happy Sunday friends,

Today I would like to share a sample I have put together for my SU! board. This one I have made using the very fun, Birthday Bakery Hostess set from Stampin' Up! Rather than stamping out the whole row of cakes, I picked out individual ones to stamp and then matted them in a row! I CASED the idea for this card from a similar one I saw on Split coast Stampers but the cakes were done in circles.
I think it is a great card for male or female.

The colours I have used are Real Red, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Whisper White and of course the inspiration came by using the striped DSP from the bonus Coco Christmas pack.

I really must get a better camera to take my photo's!

You can get this delightful stamp set for FREE simply by hosting a workshop or placing an order over $300. A great way to build your Stamp supplies.

Anyways, I hope your weekend has been full of creativity, until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!

Love Dani xoxo

You Gotta Love Monochromatic

Hi as I said earlier, I love working in monochrome and it just wouldn't be right if I didn't enter a card into the Just Add Ink #51 challenge using my favourite colour combo of crumb cake and any other brown. In this case that other brown is soft suede.

I decided to do a bit of a love theme with Valentine's Day coming up and all! To make the ribbon that the hearts are sitting on I have used the felting technique, you can see a tutorial video over on Mary Fish's Stampin' Pretty site here and just coloured it with soft suede ink and a sponge. Other elements I added are the NEW Square Lattice texture plate that you will find on pg 17 of the Stampin' Up! summer mini and hearts punched out using the Full Heart (119883) punch from Stampin' Up! Another simple card to add to my SU sample board.

Supplies List:
Stamp Sets;    Heard from the Heart (120066) and Punch potpourri (Hostess)
Cardstock:     Crumb Cake
Inks:               Soft Suede
Other:             Square Lattice Texture folder (11976), Full Heart Punch (119883), Two step Owl Punch (small hearts)118074

Monochrome at JAI

Hi friends,

Challenge 51 over at Just Add Ink this week is Monochrome. Thanks girls, I love working in monochromatic colours. The colours for this card were inspired by a new hat my daughter brought last week. I stuck to a very simple clean layout, making the flower the star of the show.

I have also been playing around with insetting the matting in a bit more, I tend to always set the matt 4mm in from the base card edge. I like how it has helped fill the card without adding other STUFF!

Supplies List

Stamp Sets: Scribble This 116406 (large flower), Punch Potpourri Hostess (small flower centre), Cottage Garden 119163 (sentiment).

Ink:  Rose red, Pretty in pink

Cardstock:  Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink DSP

Others: 1" Circle Punch 119868, Boho Blossom Punch 119858

JAI #50

See I promised two posts in one day!!

As part of my new year commitment, I have decided to enter a few challenges, the first being Just Add Ink.
This weeks challenge we have to use these scrumptious colours from SU......

Again I have used the little froggy from Flower for All Seasons. As I have not got any Riding Hood Red or Elegant Eggplant Cardstock in my stash I had to compromise and did alot of colour blending with a sponge and Write Markers. The flowers are from the Itty Bitty's out of the Summer Mini Catalogue that I just stamped and punched. This is the first entry I have EVER put into a challenge so I hope the girls over at Just Add Ink like what I have done.....oh and I hope I can figure out how to link it correctly too!!
I bet you can't even tell that the scallop, the Elegant Eggplant mat around the image and the sentiment mat are all Whisper White cardstock coloured with sponge and Markers!
Cheers Dani xoxo

New Year, New commitment!!

Hi everyone, Happy New Year, even though, OMG we are already half way through January! Where did that time go? Anyways, I have had a lovely break with my family and had some time to think about where I am heading this year. I have made a commitment to try and blog every Tuesday, I can't always promise exciting new cards to show you but I will try to touch base each and every week. I am thinking of calling it Tuesdays Treasures! what do you think?
So today I have two cards to share with you. I was looking at my display board that I will take along to Demo's and decided I had better pull my finger out and get some of those empty spaces filled up, so this card is just something quick and easy that I played with that will make a great Make and Take at my Stampin' Up! Demo's.

Now I know Mother's Day is a while off yet, but I am trying to add variety to the sayings on my display. Not every card can wish you a Happy Birthday or Thinking of You. As I said this is a simple card I whipped up using the FABULOUS scallop trim border punch that my Sis so kindly got me for Christmas...thanks Na..... the colours I have used are River Rock, Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry, oh and a touch of Crumb Cake on the watering can. The stamp is from the Flower for All Season set, which I love because it allows me to colour using my blender pens and ink, although I also coloured directly with the Stamp n Write Markers. I think this guy looks cute!

If you would like to make this card, book a Demo today!

Cheers, Dani    xoxo
